A pioneer of secondhand culture in Montreal, L'Échange first opened in 1976 on Saint-Denis Street near Square Saint-Louis, before settling on Mont-Royal Avenue, steps from the metro. Back then, selling used books and records seemed like an odd idea; fifty years on, the formula hasn't aged a day.
