La Banquise holds the corner of Rachel and avenue du Parc La Fontaine, on the Plateau.
Pierre Barsalou, a neighbourhood firefighter, opened an ice cream counter here in 1968 and turned it into a snack bar that same autumn. Poutine arrived in the early 1980s, classic and Italian.
