Fairmount Bagel

Fairmount Bagel has baked on avenue Fairmount Ouest, in the Mile End, since 1949.

Isadore Shlafman, newly arrived from Russia, opened Montréal's first bagel bakery in 1919, at the back of a lane off the Main. Thirty years on he bought a cottage on Fairmount, built his oven on the ground floor and moved his family upstairs.
