Set on Île Notre-Dame, the artificial island built from earth dredged for Expo 67, Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is one of the most legendary venues on the Formula 1 calendar, and the Ferrari-red pride of motoring Quebec.
It was born of a tragedy: after Ian Ashley's accident at Mosport in 1977, the Canadian Grand Prix had to be rescued.
